At Mayer Tori, our mission is deeply rooted in the preservation and promotion of the traditional folk music that has been an integral part of the cultural identity of Lalmonirhat and Kurigram. To further this mission, we offer a specialized Folk Music Instrument Class that provides participants with the opportunity to learn and master the instruments that are central to our rich musical heritage. Now we have two schools for learning folk instruments to children and more than 100 hundred of children learning here.
Class Schedule: Our Folk Music Instrument Class is conducted twice a week, every Thursday and Friday, allowing participants to immerse themselves regularly in the learning process. Each class is designed to last for two hours, providing students with ample time to practice and refine their skills under the guidance of our expert instructors.
What We Offer: This class focuses on teaching traditional folk instruments, including the dotara, ektara, tabla, and harmonium. Students will receive hands-on training in playing these instruments, learning the unique techniques that bring out their authentic sounds. Our instructors are seasoned musicians who have dedicated their lives to folk music and are passionate about passing on their knowledge to the next generation.
In addition to technical instruction, our classes provide insights into the cultural and historical significance of each instrument. Students will learn about the origins of these instruments, the role they play in folk music, and how they have been used to convey stories and emotions across generations. This holistic approach ensures that participants not only become skilled musicians but also well-versed in the cultural context of the music they are playing.
Why Join Us: Joining our Folk Music Instrument Class is more than just learning to play an instrument; it’s about connecting with a rich cultural tradition that has been kept alive through music. By mastering these instruments, participants contribute to the preservation of a heritage that is at risk of being forgotten. The class also fosters a sense of community among participants, creating a space where individuals can come together to celebrate and sustain their shared musical legacy.
